The
"2005 Demo Reel", a showcase
of Michael's music has been posted to Michael's CTG
Music site. The Demo Reel
contains pieces not heard before in public from projects like Initium
(a doomed cd that is ready... soon?) and a non-released horror short
film "Schitzo." Also another
piece from "The Time-In Between"
is there. Overall, the demo reel is more peaceful than the demo
reels of the last two years which, in my opinion, suits the Christmas
time better.

Michael
has also largened his territory and has now a site in Finland's
most used and visited independent music site "Mikseri"
You can find Michael's link in here.
As
you may have noticed, both Zejo and
Neuroblast Software Inc. have gone
bankrupt, so you won't find Michael's music in those projects anymore.
Meantime
in the military, I've been promoted to a squad leader (the Finnish
term "undersergeant" represents USA's "corporal"
(which is not a squad leader in Finland's military hierarchy.))
The final six months are about to begin as a leader and I hope that
they'll go by as fast as the first six months did. The train is
turning home and next July I'll be back in action and ready to roll
(I'll be a man then also... or something). Everybody have a peaceful
Christmas and a Happy New Year. Take a deep breath and enjoy the
quietness. I'll see you soon!

I've
been ordered a year's service in the military and will be trained
to be a squad leader. Today there's 300 days left of service (weekends
and vacations are counted to be part of the service.) There's a
long road ahead and I hope that when I come home next July I'll
be able to adapt back to the music business and that people still
have interest in my music.

Moonlite
Productions has grabbed itself yet another award with
"Three O'Clock." The film
won best short film's award in the Edmonton
Hot Shots Film Festival. Congrats to Glen Chua and his team
once again! You can listen to the score composed by Michael Law
here.
And
then a few bittersweet words from Michael:
I'm
currently doing my part of military service here in Finland and
will be barely able to contact or respond to any e-mail or business
requirement during the next five to eleven months (I'll try to finish
it as fast as I can). The album Initium
is nearing its completion's completion and the crappy part (selling
and publishing it) has been barbarically and almost bare-handedly
left to Paul Houseman. When I'm around (during some odd weekends
like tonight) I try to help with it. I hope you still have interest
for the album. We have big changes going on in our lives right now
and unfortunately also our music takes damage from it. Initium is
not a hoax or a creepy conspiracy, it is a full action-packed trailer
music album and you will never need another album in the rest of
your life. Initium.
Paul,
how did my promotion speech go?
Paul?

Michael
has joined the constantly growing development team of Neuroblast
Software Inc. who has taken over the game "Wicked
City" of the former Mongrel Studios. Neuroblast has a big number
of games in development and Michael's proud to be their official
composer. Michael has composed a theme for one of their smaller,
showcase games "Minigolf - Adventures
on Route 66." You can find the piece here.

Michael
has also composed the score for Glen Chua's and
Moonlite Productions' latest work
of art, "The Time In-Between."
It's a romantic short film, where two young people meet each other
only in perfect dreams, but don't know if the other person even
exists in the real world. A piece called "The Dream" has
been uploaded to the demo music page.
There
has been changes in faq and credits
-pages as well. And it's summer! Enjoy, everyone!

Michael
has once again helped the campaign of the Finnish football team
AC Allianssi
(Alliance) and scored background music to a radio trailer airing
in Radio
Helsinki. You can listen
to Michael's music (without the vocal speech) in the demo
music page under the "commercial category."

The
score for Moonlite Productions' newest
short film, "Three O'Clock"
has been uploaded. It consists
of three tracks, "The Initiative", "Don't Let Her
Go" and "Fate Goes Around Circle."
The
film premieres at Fleetwood Park, Surrey,
BC April
13th and
the DVD comes out May
16th. All the ticket and DVD money goes to Canadian
Cancer Fundrasier.
"Three
O'Clock" will also participate in a number of festivals this
year:
BC
Film Festival (May 2nd - 4th)
Calgary
Hot Shots (June)
Canadian
International Annual Film Festival
And
finally, some info about the delayed album "Initium."
We are currently dealing with a number of contracts with Paul, which
takes more time than we excpected. Still, I have to take the biggest
blame for the delay. I didn't find time to finish my part of the
album in time because of a number of final exams I've had in high
school. Now that they're over, I can start concentrating on music
again. Sorry for the delay and I hope there are still people who
look forward to our mind blowing trailer music album :)

I
hope you are in a Christmas mood, because I sure am! It gets dark
at around three o'clock in winter here in Finland and the ground
is white of snow. The center of Helsinki is lit with Christmas lights
and everybody's in a good mood. I love it!
Two
demo pieces have been posted to the demo
music page, a film noir piece entitled "La nuit noire"
and an adventure piece, which participated in the Project Sam composer
contest this year, "Waking the Waterfall". The winners
hasn't been announced yet.
Also,
a Demo Reel of Michael's work in 2004 has been uploaded to Michael's
site in CTG
Music. It features a couple
of demo tracks unheard in public as well as demo material from the
new album "Initium".
Which
leads us to the next piece of news. The massive film music album
"Initium" made with fellow composer Paul Houseman will
be released in February 2005!!! Listen to a demo reel at Paul's
site. Also, listen to both Michael's and Paul's 2004 demo reels
to hear sneak peeks of Initium's music!
"A
little time to relax now. Everybody have a merry christmas and happy
new year and we'll get back next year!" :D

Today
we here celebrate the Independence Day of Finland.
"I
must say that I couldn't be more proud to be a Finn and part of
the great Finnish society today with all the stuff going on in the
world."

To
also celebrate the independence of Canadians (their independence
day is the 1st of July, but anyway...), here's
a suite of the Memorial Day version of Glen Chua's short film "The
Ridge", which tells of the heroism of the Canadians during
the first world war.
The
film was recently recognized by the city hall of Surrey,
BC and war veterans attended the quiet and beautiful ceremony, where
"The Ridge" was presented for the first time. Congratulations
to Glen and Moonlite
Productions! The full score will be posted when the film
festival version of the film will be finished and the original score
altered.
Michael
has also signed in two new multimedia projects by Everscreen.
Michael will be doing sound design and background music.
"This
is an intriguing new area of music where I didn't have much experience
from before the opportunity Everscreen gave me. I'm glad to finally
compose to commercial projects aside albums, films and games."

Michael
Stay
tuned for a big Christmas update where the album "Initium"
will be announced!!! Also the demo reel of Michael's work in 2004
will be posted in Michael's sites in Acidplanet,
Sonicgarden and CTG
Music.
October

A new
piece titled "After the Cargo" has been posted in the
Demo Music-page.
October

Michael
has composed music for an interactive e-learning diashow created
by Everscreen.
"Everscreen
is a subsidiary of the SanomaWSOY Group operating in Finland and
Sweden. The company specialises in e-learning and digital business
communication solutions."

Michael
is proud announce that he will be composing the score for Moonlite
Productions' / Glen Chua's new film, "The Ridge", which
tells the story of Canadians in the battle for Vimy Ridge during
the first world war.
"I
have positive excpectations about this film, because I believe in
the talent of this young director, actor and writer. I'm glad to
have the opportunity to work on another film with Glen after the
smashing success of "The Lost"."

new site here.
October
2nd 2004

Michael
has finally gotten his computer back after a long wrestle with computer
viruses and computer repairer guys. Sorry for the long break with
no updates. Now for the news:
Michael
has posted three tracks to the online production music company Zejo.
They are titled "Inside Your Mind",
"The Dead Army" and "The
Resistance". The website features music from some of
the best modern commercial / trailer music composers out there.
Home listeners and commercial users can search, preview and buy
tracks easily and at a decent price. View Michael's tracks here.
Any contribution is greatly appreciated!

Also,
Michael is working on an exploding orchestral trailer music album
titled "Initium"
with a fellow colleague and a good friend, Paul
Houseman. The album will be a step forward in the next
generation's trailer music, combining majestic and classical melodies
with powerful drums, choir and guitars. Stay tuned for more info
about the finishing and release dates soon.
There
has been major updates on every page. For example, view the new
music-page and faint. The news / updates
indicator tells, when changes have been made to the side, so you
don't have to scroll the news and music page every time you enter
the site. It's on the front page.
Some
great news about the short film "The Lost". It has won
the award for best picture in the Calgary
Hot Shots festival. It also got in Calgary
International Film Festival this year. Congratulations
for Glen and his crew! Some pictures of the winning ceremony in
Calgary will be posted in the pictures section soon. View the update
of faq for details.
For
more sader news. Michael won't be composing the score for "6
Angels" after all. There were technical difficulties with his
musical equipment throughout the summer and the contract time ended
before anything was done.
"I
hope Luis Almeida and his crew the best of luck by finding a new
composer and getting the film sold! This would have been a real
dream come true - a first full-length film to score. I'm sorry it
had to end like this..."
Also,
some of the most talented film composers of all time have passed
away during the last few months. Michael
Kamen died at the age of 55. He will be remembered for his work
for Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves, Band of Brothers and his
numerous collaborations with many famous pop and rock artists including
Aerosmith, Bob Dylan, Queen and Metallica. Jerry
Goldsmith passed away at the age of 75. His undying work during
five decades includes scores for the Star Trek film series, The
Twilight Zone, Total Recall, Chinatown and Congo. Recently, Elmer
Bernstein (The Great Escape, Ghostbusters, Ten Commandments,
Last Man Standing) died in his sleep at the age of 82. He and his
music during six decades have been a great teacher to all composers,
young and old.
"All
of these fantastic film composers will be remembered and their music
will live and stay for future generations to come."

February

Well
folks. This is it. I turned 18 two hours ago. It was a quiet night
really and nothing has really changed...I'm still me. I'm glad my
beard (yeah, if I really had one) didn't suddenly grew 3 meters
and I didn't start to complain about wrinkles while eating cold
sausages and watching Bonanza... I've had a great childhood, and
as I've turned man only formally, I hope I can still maintain my
child-like inspiration and essence, so it can be reflected in my
music by following and then breaking the bonds and rules of the
dimensions of music. One can only imagine how much music I'll be
able to create in the next 18 years!
We
went to have a beer with Paul, who had already turned 18 last fall
(damn that guy) to discuss our upcoming projects. I've signed up
as the leading sound designer and composer for a film-noir action
game titled "Wicked
City". I'm also helping Paul with the sound designing
in a scifi-action PC game with more information revealed soon I
hope. And now, who wants some cake?

December

The
year 2003 is nearly over and it's time to go on holidays and keep
a small break from bigger projects during Christmas and New Year's
Eve. I've mixed a demo reel of the music I've composed through this
year. It contains two cues you haven't heard as they won't be put
in here, in michaellawmusic.com. The demo reel can be found in my
Acidplanet
website or in my Sonicgarden
website.
There
has been major alterations in the FAQ recently.
Also, a 5-minute cue, "The Great Escape" has been posted
in the music-page just now. I hope you all
spend a nice holiday, relax and take a break from all kind of work
and stress! Remember your loved ones! Merry Christmas and Happy
New Year!
