"The Time In-Between" (2007)

Original Score

Track 1

Alone ©2007 Moonlite Productions 1.01

I don't have anyone here. I'm by myself. But not in dreams. I go to sleep to a place where I feel more like home.

Track 2

Who is She ©2007 Moonlite Productions 2.52

From the crowd of masked people, from the middle of strangers she comes straight to me. She dances and laughs. She looks me as if I she knew me. Her whole appearance is warm and friendly. This feeling, this image is familiar in my heart. It feels as if someone would have dug it from somewhere deep and held it gently. We are together when day turns to night, when fireworks fill up the sky and when street lights guide our way through crowded Chinatown.

Track 3

Dawn of Love ©2007 Moonlite Productions 2.49

We get wet from waterdrops. Rain speaks to us with silence. We are washed from all our worries. You tag me and I chase you on the beach. We watch the sun rise together. We live in the moment and it feels like eternity. I give you a flower and leave it to the bridge. I kiss you gently while we're swimming together, but then, suddenly.... it all fades away.

Track 4

The Haven of Hearts ©2007 Moonlite Productions 2.01

Reality again. The dream felt so real. There is a flower in the bridge. Will we find peace and meet? Are we only each other's dream? I want to believe in you so I run. Is it the same flower? I need to know if you exist. I want to find you.

The Time In-Between (2006) Score

Here's the score for the version of 2006 of the film as one track.

The Dream ©2005 Moonlite Productions 4.03 Romantic/Calm 2005

This is the score for the dream sequence of the first version of "The Time In-Between."

In his most touching and visually amazing movie yet, Glen Chua brings the audience back to a fairytale dream world through the eyes of two strangers. Can one fall in love in the time in-between the grey reality and the pressure of the modern world? Is it possible to find the love of your life in a world that exists only in your imagination? Can another person's soul and feelings exist in another person's sub-conscious? Moonlite Productions' new short film catches the moment of love and dream so perfectly, that you can almost smell and touch it.

It has been an honor to create and work with the score of the new version of "The Time In-Between." At first I wondered, why Glen started to shoot this already amazing film that came out in 2005 all over again, but when I saw the final film, it struck me. Glen had brought the emotion and colours out even better. This one touches you in a level and a way you will never forget. The last cut finished in 2007 is a brilliant work of art that will remain one of the most beautiful short films Moonlite Productions has or will ever create.

In this page you will find the score for the final cut (2007), the score for the cut of 2006 in a one track suite and the dream sequence music for the first cut of 2005. I needed to recompose a lot of the music to the final cut so I decided to keep the score for TTI-B 2006 for you to listen as well. Enjoy the music of all three versions of this wonderful story!

The Time In-Between 2006 and 2007

The version of the score I composed in 2006 differs a bit from the ultimate score of 2007. In the earlier version I used guitar, which has disappeared later from the final version. Glen and myself came to the conclusion that we should stick to the original instrumental ideas of TTIB used to describe the reality, which didn't include acoustic guitar ("Alone"). Also, the guitar in the ending forecasted too much what was going to happen, so in the new version only right before the end credits the music tells that there's stilli hope that the other person does exist ("The Haven of Hearts"). In the earlier version the boy choir was in three different stages, when in the final version it is cut only to exist in the end credits ("End Credits"). The choir in the beginning has been replaced with whispers in the final version. I collected quite a number of beautiful Finnish words and put a few in the beginning ("Who is She"). Also in the older version the ending was a bit more majestic with some horns and a percussive hit. It was noticed to be too majestic to the film so in the final version you can hear some more traditional tearful love tunes ("Dawn of Love").
